Understanding GST Calculation
GST can be calculated in two ways: removing GST from a final price (Tax Inclusive) or adding GST to a base price (Tax Exclusive). This tool helps businesses and consumers quickly determine the exact tax amount.
GST Components
- CGST + SGST: Applied when the supply of goods/services is within the same state (Intra-state). Usually split 50-50.
- IGST: Applied when the supply is between two different states (Inter-state).

Common questions about Goods & Services Tax
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax used in India on the supply of goods and services. It is a comprehensive, multistage, destination-based tax usually passed on to the consumer.
GST has three components: CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax), SGST (State Goods and Services Tax), and IGST (Integrated Goods and Services Tax).
GST Amount = (Supply Value * GST Rate%) / 100. Total Value = Supply Value + GST Amount.
GST Amount = Total Value - [Total Value x {100 / (100 + GST%)}].
The primary GST slabs for regular taxable goods and services are 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Essential items are often exempt.
